R&D Associate Principal Scientist will oversee seasoning
development for various brands and products within the R&D
Seasonings & Flavor team. This role is crucial to our PEP+
initiative, focusing on strategic planning and programs that
enhance our product range, offering consumers more sustainable
options. Responsibilities include researching flavor strategies,
generating ideas, collaborating with seasoning vendors, managing
seasoning processing and scaling, and setting specifications. The
associate will utilize technical knowledge, project management
abilities, and experimental design to develop technology roadmaps
for innovation and brand management across our food portfolio. This
position offers the chance to work with popular brands such as
Doritos, Funyuns, Poppables, Munchos, and more.Responsibilities
- Work effectively with other R&D functions and business
cross-functional partners to develop and launch product innovations
and renovations, integrating pep+ technology roadmaps
- Applying science and engineering principles to solve technical
problems.
- Utilize scientific methods to develop knowledge that creates
business opportunities that support the company strategic market
objectives.
- Lead the identification, assessment, validation and
commercialization of new ingredients and technologies.
- Work with external suppliers and vendors on identifying new
technology unlocks and commercialization of new ingredients or
technologies for product development.
- Provide technical and business risk assessment/perspectives
related to new product development.
- Leverage external and internal experts for key analytical and
sensory research.
- Translate business objectives into strategic and tactical
project goals and roadmaps for the team.
- Lead and coordinate various activities with contractors to
complete hands-on lab needs.
- Willingness to travel as needed, -10-20%Compensation and
Benefits:
- The expected compensation range for this position is between
$89,000 - $149,000.
- Location, confirmed job-related skills, experience, and
education will be considered in setting actual starting salary.

during the hiring process.
- Bonus based on performance and eligibility target payout is 10%
of annual salary paid out annually.
- Paid time off subject to eligibility, including paid parental
leave, vacation, sick, and bereavement.

- BS/MS/PhD degree in Food Science, Ingredient Science, or
Engineering
- 5+ years (BS)/3+ years (MS)/1+ years (PhD) of experience in
R&D or production within the food, seasoning, flavor,
ingredient, or consumer packaged goods sectors
- Experience in seasoning and flavors strongly preferred
- Experience in product or process development, seasoning &
flavor, ingredient science required, culinary experience is a
plus
- Demonstrated ability to translate business objectives into
strategic and tactical project goals and objectives
- Track record of achieving significant scientific advancements
using both internal and external resources
- Solid understanding of integrating business requirements into
technical decisions
- Proven ability to manage multiple assignments/ tasks
- Proactive in starting assignments, identifying
opportunities/gaps, asking questions, and seeking solutions
- Strong skills in managing people
- Excellent communication abilities, both verbal and written>
